EGATIN study days 2018 Vilnius, PROGRAM

EGATIN Study Days in Vilnius invited us to explore specific challenges and advantages created by personal therapy in a small group as part of group analytic training. These and other questions can lead us in our enquiry about roles and boundaries:

–  How the therapeutic experience differs in different settings (block therapy, continuous trainee group, inclusion in the patients’ group) for both trainee and group analyst?

– How the therapeutic process of the trainee is interconnected with their learning process in the training? In which ways personal therapy in the small group can assist, rival with or impede training?

– How it is to have colleagues as patients and colleagues as fellow group members?

– What are the effects of having several roles in the training program while being a small group conductor?

International Summer Conference of Group Analysis BOOKS IN GROUP ANALYSIS, July 3 – 5, 2015,Vilnius, Lithuania

Group Analysis being a combination of art and science faces the challenge to be shared and taught, manualized and transmitted. What books should be read to become an excellent artist of group conducting, what books can reveal conceptualized, rational approach and also intuition, spontaneity and creativity? What difficulties and challenges, excitements and pleasures are encountered by persons who write books and share their experience and knowledge? And on the other hand, what possibilities and new spaces, surprises and  questions discover the ones,  who read books, learn and test the information in practice? Finally, our patients gain information and bring the vision of the therapy also from books – what we do with that? What books become an issue and theme in the group, what kind of written word carries a meaning and is significant? These and other related topics will be the focus of our meeting.
