Appeal by Lithuanian Group Analytic Society (LGAS)
Dear members of the Society, colleagues, community members,
Russia’s intense military aggression against Ukraine is shocking and leaves no one indifferent. We are experiencing a situation that we have not seen since World War II when one country invades the territory of another independent country. The peace that has prevailed in recent decades, the growing tolerance, empathy, and the ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically, have given us hope that such aggressive and large-scale military action will not be repeated. It seemed that we were slowly beginning to, as S. Taylor put it, “grow out of the pathology of war”.
The military aggression in Ukraine is a war against humanity, morality, respect for life, and freedom. It is a challenge to the ideas and agreements of the democratic world that have been upheld over the past decades. Provocations and military actions against peaceful people are crimes against humankind and humanity.
The Lithuanian Group Analytic Society, as a public organisation of Lithuanian citizens acting voluntarily, unequivocally condemns the unprovoked bloodthirsty aggression of Putin and his country’s citizens against the free people of Ukraine and the assault on the integrity and independence of Ukrainian territory.
Members of the Society are committed to volunteering to provide psychological support to Ukrainian victims of warfare.
We stand united with Ukraine and its people.
Слава Україні! Героям слава!
